  1. Remote Process & Shutdown Service 1.2.0d Installation Instructions.

  3. To automatically install Remote Process & Shutdown Service, extract the 
  4. files from the archive file RPSSRV.ZIP to a temporary subdirectory (folder) 
  5. or to a diskette. Then execute the program INSTALL.EXE which will 
  6. automatically install the program files to the appropriate directory for 
  7. the operating system being used. NOTE: If you are upgrading from a previous 
  8. version, you should terminate the currently executing copy of Remote Process 
  9. & Shutdown Service before running the installation program.

  11. The installation program will automatically install and start the service. 
  12. User configurable options may be set using the control panel applet.

  14. To manually install Remote Process & Shutdown Service, extract the files from 
  15. the archive file RPSSRV.ZIP to a temporary subdirectory (folder) or to a 
  16. diskette. Then copy the files into the subdirectory (folder) of your choice. 
  17. If installing on a Windows NT system we suggest using the 
  18. "Win32app\RemoteProcess" subdirectory (folder). If you are installing on a 
  19. Windows 95 system we suggest using the "Program Files\RemoteProcess" folder .

  21. On a Windows NT installation, the files "RPNT-DEL.CMD", "YESNO.COM", "RPSS.cpl" 
  22. and "ShutDnNT.exe" should be placed in the "Windows\System32" directory.
  23. To install and start the service on Windows NT first execute the file 
  24. "RshutNT.exe" with a command line option of "-Install". Next, execute the file 
  25. "RPSSNT.exe" with a command line option of "-Install".

  27. On a Windows 95 installation, the files "RP95-DEL.BAT", "YESNO.COM" and 
  28. "RPSS.cpl" should be placed in the "Windows\System" folder. To install and 
  29. start the service on Windows 95 execute the file "RPSS95.exe" with a command 
  30. line option of "-Install".

  32. For both platforms, user configurable options may be set using the control 
  33. panel applet.

  35. UnInstalling Remote Process and Shutdown Service
  36.  
  37. The installation program will create an uninstall icon for you unless you chose 
  38. to not allow the creation of a program group. To manually remove this 
  39. application from a system follow the instructions below:

  41. Windows NT: Execute the batch file RPNT-DEL.CMD with a command line option of 
  42. C:\win32app\DCS_RemoteProcess (assuming that this is where you chose to install 
  43. the application). After this file executes, you will need to manually remove 
  44. any program groups and icons related to the application.

  46. Windows 95: Execute the batch file RP95-DEL.BAT with a command line option of 
  47. "C:\Program Files\DCS_RemoteProcess" (assuming that this is where you chose to 
  48. install the application). After this file executes, you will need to manually 
  49. remove any program groups and icons related to the application.
